Amadeus is one of my all time favorite movies. Here’s a great scene from the film, I will provide some background plot info to put it in perspective:

The film is shot from a somewhat narrative perspective of Salieri’s recollections about Mozart.  Salieri is the guy with dark hair in the opening scene.

Salieri at this stage is the court composer having a decent life and some prestige in court. Mozart, on the other hand is not that well off, he’s kind of the “consultant” of those times, getting commissions here or there. Salieri works hard to get where he is, composing is not such an easy task to him. Mozart on the other hand is a naturally born genious who can catch any tune on the fly.

The scene shows the first time supposedly that Mozart was invited to the court. Right before he comes in, the Emperor dabbles in his own playing skills as he attempts to play Salieri’s march which he had just composed. Watch what happens as Mozart comes in and hears the Emperor play the march. Enjoy!
