Noticed this on Drudge Report. If you watch this political ad you can see the window frame portion act as a floating cross, and moving around a xmas tree:
That is called trying to be relevant without stating so explicitly. Works great until it’s pointed out as too obvious and then it comes back and slaps you a bit.
For those of you not in the know, Mike Huckabee is one of the (suddenly) leading Republican presidential candidates running for president. He’s a southern Baptist minister and has a stronger Christian religious connection in the public eye compared to other leading Republican candidates.
It’s actually very surprising for me to see this, since I thought he was ahead on this religious platform already. Talk about chasing diminishing returns.

How is it subliminal, when he is actually talking about Christ…So what if there is a so called
“Cross” in the picture…The Christmas tree is supposed to be just as religious…Its really sad where we are headed as a country…
Eric, thanks for coming by and for the comment.
I think I may be misunderstood with the point I was trying to make, which was from a pure marketing perspective.
It is subliminal in that the marketers wanted for people who watch this to come away *visually* associating Mike Huckabee with an image of a cross, even if they didn’t realize it. It’s subliminal when it’s in the back of your mind and you don’t notice it unless it’s pointed out.
Otherwise, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a cross or the Christmas tree. In fact I agree, this country is going too far out and being politically correct everywhere. Things shouldn’t be called a “holiday”. If it’s Christmas, then Merry Christmas, let everyone be proud of their faith.
And on that subject, if you’re reading this during the Christmas season you may enjoy our wonderful SKY.fm Christmas Channel at http://www.sky.fm/christmas - It’s free to listen and is very popular, with no politically correct bs.
Mike Huckabee says it’s just a book shelf: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8TK620O0&show_article=1
Either way, nicely done. Created more news about him and most didn’t turn out to be negative after all. As they say in marketing, any attention - good or bad - can be a great help.
