FeedBurner Logo

I’ve been noticing my feed subscriber count growing slowly but steadily. I don’t really try to promote my site with any link bait for the likes of Digg, StumbleUpon, or Sphinn for a long time now.

Side note: Digg’s actually a waste of time, I’ve only tried it a few times just to prove to myself the things I expected before trying. Even if you do generate traffic through a hot Digg item, that traffic will bounce right back. For the time and effort put in, there are much easier ways to get better traffic.

The only places where I mention this blog are:

  • In my email signature.  Not always, just when I think people wouldn’t mind seeing it.
  • On contact pages for the Internet radio sites I manage DI.fm and SKY.fm
  • In many posts on other blogs when I leave comments. Readers who find my comments interesting click back here.

Other sources of traffic are search results for topics I write, but they are very deep searches and they are often not targeted well. For example I’ve been getting traffic for a cat post, as well as some of my video posts through Google.

The result overall is that while I don’t get a ton of subscribers, the ones that I do either know me or of me, or seem genuinely interested in what I am writing. Either way, it’s a small audience but a highly targeted one which is just awesome if you ask me.

My subscriber count is still some way off to reach a 100 as measured by FeedBurner, but it’s at steady 25 today. Not too bad for a few months worth of blogging.

There are just as many people coming to read this blog via links or direct type-ins, so they don’t get registered in the subscriber count. So I’d say the total regular audience is probably around 40 to 50+ overall and growing. Maybe once the feed goes near 50 I’ll display the count on the blog.

What I find interesting is that the more the count grows the more I am encouraged to write a post. I can’t disappoint with a stale blog. I just wish I could find more time for all the topics in my ADD afflicted head.

The one thing I wish for, as does any blogger I suppose, is to get more comments. I know many don’t leave comments if they think it doesn’t add to the discussion. But just a hello for any comment is an indication of your attention for a particular post. I welcome all.

So, thank you for your interest, for your time, and for sharing this blog with any like minded people you may know.
