Thanks to Nick for showing me this video the other day. It’s a recording of game play of Audiosurf. The game is distributed through the Steam game platform to be played on a desktop.

The concept is implemented fantastically - you load any of your music and get to navigate your rocket through the beat and music of your track. What a great way to spend mindless time, what a great way to enjoy your favorite tracks and get other senses involved.

I think if you haven’t seen this before you might be blown away at what ideas this will lead into.

I imagine a few years from now when processing will get ever cheaper, web software plugins like Flash or Silverlight will include support for doing this kind of on the fly processing, combined together with streaming media.

Imagine streaming your favorite radio station, or any online digital service, and playing games like this. That brings interaction to a new level. Right now it’s only for the desktop, but give it a few years.  Of course, it would be multi-player too. No more boring chat rooms with avatars, you actually get to listen and play together.

Wow, I want to be a part of making this happen and letting the masses enjoy. Wow.
