So, this is another personal post. Do pretend you care just a little please.

It’s coming around to almost two weeks that I have moved my family to California’s Bay Area. To be more precise, my family is my wife, two little kids, and mom in law (let’s leave the jokes aside okay).

After being about 18 years in New York, I think it was time to make a change. The weather is beautiful, it’s been pretty much sunshine since we got here, no humidity. That’s a big deal when you have kids you know, you don’t want to be locked indoors with little kids :)

Anyway, on to absolutely random things and thoughts that are and were going through my mind lately. In no particular order…

  • How does this blog show 122 RSS Feedburner subscribers when only a week ago it only had 35? Either more of you are wasting your time reading me waste my time, or Google needs to fix that thing.
  • How do you like the financial industry starting to come apart at the seems? IndyMac just a precursor? I am not sure I even want to imagine what’s next. However, the one good thing about all this is that the old way – the industrial era way – of running business and institutions just has to go. Aside from Google, there aren’t many companies that are embracing a different set of goals, or a different set of ways of accomplishing success. Let all this crap fall apart. It has to, for us to some day to get to a better market, a better world perhaps. That’s if we don’t starve and kill each other to get there first.
  • Going through search engine keywords that drove users to this blog a few really struck a chord. I feel really loved and special. Here are but a few:

    “ari shohat” jew
“how to” +”get listeners” +”internet radio”
left coast and the bible belt
    is kangaroo kosher
interest free loan from citi bank

  • I got stopped by a cop – a nice one too! Where I live now people actually make a complete stop on a stop sign. No I mean, really, on a 4-way stop sign.

It’s driving me and my wife nuts a little. You see people drive up, there are no cars around, no people around. They stop the car, wait a few seconds, then start again. For a New Yorker that’s absurd on a 4 way stop sign.

So anyway, 4 blocks from my new residence I see a cop pull out of nowhere with sirens. I still have NY license plates on this car. He comes out, all smiling. Says “so why am I here?”. Seriously folks, I had no idea why! I say “was I speeding officer?” He says, “well, a little…”. Turns out I didn’t make a complete stop sign, boo hoo.

He even aksed if I saw a kid in a red sweater getting ready to cross the street, which I didn’t. Either the kid was like, one block away by New York standards, or there was no kid at all and he just made it up to check I am not lying to him.

Anyway, he was nice enough not to ask for any documents, didn’t give me a ticket, just asked me to be careful and make full stops. Hey, I am starting to like the liberal outlook on things here :)

  • Today, I finally start working a bit more. I leased some shared cube office space downtown San Mateo. This will last me until I find a bigger office space for me and Nick and James who are coming around in another month. And to think, I have a company or two, and actually rented a cube/desk. Shocking!

Well the truth is, why waste the money, this is only $350/mo and is already wired, no commitments so I can go any time. I just need quiet space, good places for lunch, and a net connection. So a cube is doing nicely so far.

  • Oh, and what’s a post without domaining. I am glad to say I sold Fiera(dot)com on Sedo auction site for just north of $12,000. Paid $6300 for it oh about 6 months ago. Afte commission, a clean $4k+, helps pay for other domains. Too bad sales don’t come that often, but this one I am glad is done with. It’s a bad habit, I know, but hopefully net positive in the end indeed. So when’s the end?
