I’ve been listening to the last two debates on and off. With what’s been playing out in the financial sector lately I am now more than ever convinced that both of the US Presidential candidates really suck.
I find McCain’s statements on the need to somehow buy back and bring housing values back up completely ludicrous. Because they won’t go back up as a result.
While I am on this topic, why is it that people “deserve” for their house values not to fall as much? What about all the other people who would LOVE to buy a house, if only it fell down to realistic levels? Nobody cares about those, let’s prop up the irresponsible instead of letting them eat their own risk.
I also don’t see Obama saying anything concrete, it’s a lot of good speaking, hitting the right notes for people who are sick of the current administration. I have no doubt that Obama understands many issues in the tech sector, for example, better than McCain.
However, there are too many grey areas for Obama that people don’t think are serious enough – which prevent me from giving him the nod. Aside from all the hate America preacher crap, how about the fact that he was involved in the very effort to lobby for loan standards to extend to more risky groups.
That is, he started making his name in an effort that would make entities like Freddie Mac take on even more risky loans – simply in the name of making housing more affordable for minorities in his area (read: higher risk group, and we see results of such now). So on one hand he keeps pointing the finger at the Bush administration, but this problem extends even from before Bush, and Obama himself doesn’t have a clear record. But it’s too involved for most people to grasp.
At any rate, everyone sucks and seems to be entirely missing the point about what’s going wrong now. It’s sad to see each side pandering their own party line with both missing what I understand to be the truth. Decent honest people can’t even run for President anymore. You can see I’ve become quite a cynic. We’re probably going to see Obama win barring a black swan event, so I am hoping he surprises me and doesn’t mess things up even worse.

I feel your pain. Now the talking heads are saying if Obama goes into Nov 4th with a 5% lead and doesn’t win its because we are racist!!!
They are already setting up for a legal nightmare. Wait and see this will make the hanging chad look like a freagin prom dance!!
And good ole Barney Frank said the other day thatywe are racist because we want to return to responsible lending!!! He is a despicable human being and does not represent any person view I have ever met. These freagin Liberals crying racism is really irresponsible and way out of line. If Obama wins, all the warning signs that every informed person sees about his character will show itself and then the mainstream media will turn on him like a pack of wolves.
They love to build someone up and then tear them down.
No mention last night of Abortion, Guns or Supreme Court nominees either…Good Ole Tom Brokaw filtering his Liberal agenda!!
I am disgusted with this entire process….
BTW How’s life in Nancy Pelosi world?
Im not racist by any means however we are in for a long ride if Obama becomes president.
A police officer in Florida called obama by his full name – and now the NAACP and all other black organizations are calling him to quit and to apologize for his “racial” remarks.
Since when in America is calling a person by his full LEGAL name is racist?
If Obama becomes president and we dont agree with a view or policy and we speak our mind about it.. are we going to be considered racist?
Also… the stuff I saw on Hannity’s America on Fox the other night is very scary stuff. That is a world of Obama that I never knew about.
I have a hell of a lot more trust in McCain than I do in Obama. George Bush did make a promise to us that under his watch another 9/11 will never happen.. so far he has prevented that… this will be his legacy.
I dont know about you but when was the last time you went out to dinner or to a movie or to a mall and every wondered if the person standing next to you is strapped with a bomb? Bush may not be the best President of our times but he has kept his word and kept us safe from harm which i know damn well McCain will do the same and that is all that matters to me.
If we think the economy and housing crap is bad now… if another 9/11 were to happen… we ain’t seen shit yet.
My friend, you should know by now that none of these fools matter, it is now pretty clear who really runs the US, and the world for that matter. Our “elected” officials are tools not more. The whole situation reminds me of the world circa 1933, and that scares the hell out of me. I have accurately predicted all the shitstorm so far, and i sincerely hope i am wrong about things that might happen going forward. Unfortunately, history is against us, starting from the beginning of time.
